Kandanga Valley Stud inaugral on property sale

HISTORY:
Both the Kandanga Valley Charolais and Charbray Studs were established in 1988, however the first Charolais cattle at Kandanga were purchased by John’s parents, Kev & Joan, in 1973 and there has been a Charolais infusion in the Kandanga Valley herd since those early days.

The first registered Charbray cattle were purchased in 1979 at the Nahrunda Stud dispersal at Gympie. The tremendous growth and easy doing ability of these first Charbrays with the added benefit of tick resistance, convinced us that Charbray cattle were unbeatable in our environment, and we now believe, in any environment.

Early stud Charolais breeders were purchased from Ayr, Palgrove, Gunnadoo and Fernvale studs, along with others from numerous dispersals. With this diverse range of genetics in our base cows we decided they needed to be mated to Full French Sires, not only to improve their carcass traits but also to breed some consistency of type into their progeny. We believe we are now seeing those results.
